The Norwegian Centre for Oil Spill Preparedness and Marine Environment is a public center of expertise under the Ministry of Transport. Our vision is a clean ocean.

Our social mission is to be a national knowledge hub, we aim to help develop technology and spread knowledge about oil spill preparedness and marine litter pollution.

The Norwegian Centre for Oil Spill Preparedness and Marine Environment is located in Svolvær, and is headed by Ann-Helen Ernstsen. Today 14 employees with broad expertise in oil spill preparedness, marine environment and communication work at the centre. We cooperate with other government agencies, research institutions and NGOs, and we believe cooperation is key to good results, both in Norway and worldwide. We are an important contributor to the national objective of cleaner seas.
